Obituary of Velma Porter

Velma Corine Porter, 67, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Porter, daughter of the late Wilber and Corine (Jennings) Fry, was born August 6, 1941, in Topeka, Kansas. She was retired from the U.S. Forest Service. Mrs. Porter enjoyed cooking holiday dinners and was a grant writer for Ripley County Caring Communities.
She was married to Carl H. Porter and he preceded her in death in December, 1998.
She is survived by one son, Jim Porter, of Doniphan, two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and a companion, Ed Duffey.
Mrs. Porter was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one brother, Bill Fry.
A memorial service for Mrs. Porter will be held Sunday afternoon, August 9, 2009, at 1:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
