Obituary of Jewel Rodgers

Jewel Delene Rodgers, 83, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Thursday, November 11, 2010, at Clark's Mountain Nursing Center in Piedmont, Missouri. Mrs. Rodgers, daughter of Albert and Gracie (Trusty) Black, was born January 28, 1927, in Dexter, Missouri. She had been a factory worker, school cook and housewife. Mrs. Rodgers loved being with her family and gardening and she especially enjoyed children. She was a Christian and had attended various churches throughout her life. On March 22, 1947, she was married to Andy Rodgers in Bloomfield, Missouri. He preceded her in death on November 4, 1993. Surviving are one son, Mark Rodgers and his wife, Betty, of Doniphan, Missouri; one daughter, Kimbre Gunter and her husband, Vernon, of Ellington, Missouri; three daughters-in-law, Ruby, Carol and Kay; one sister, Faye Wallace of Granite City, Illinois; one brother, Robert Black of Granite City, Illinois; and seventeen grandchildren, thirty-four great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three sons, David Rodgers, Don Rodgers and Gene Rodgers. Visitation will be Sunday evening, November 14, 2010, from 5-8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Monday afternoon, November 15, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Pastors Donnie Sanford and Joe Rodgers officiating. Burial will be in Stephens Cemetery.
