Carolyn Sue Pope, 80, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, December 15, 2010, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Mrs. Pope, daughter of Charles Alexander and Myrtle (Pettit) Price was born July 20, 1930, in Memphis, Tennessee. She was a graduate of the Baptist Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Memphis and was a geriatric nurse. Mrs. Pope was a landscape artist and had several paintings on display at the Peabody Hotel as well as the Brooks Memorial Art Gallery, both located in Memphis. She was also an avid reader. Mrs. Pope was a member of the First Christian Church in Doniphan.
She was married to Jack Sellers on July 20, 1956, and he preceded her in death on August 31, 1972. On December 21, 1979, she was married to James T. Pope in Forrest City, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on June 1, 2010.
Surviving are three daughters; Dr. Kathy Bennett Bowie and her husband, Tom, of Kansas City, Missouri, Linda Gail Pope of Wisconsin, Sharon Kay Kirkendal of Van Buren, Arkansas; two sons, Larry Dean Pope of Hinesville, Georgia, and James Michael Pope of Paragould, Arkansas; and one brother, Lynn McGee of Mexico.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and one sister, Joan.
Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning, December 18, 2010, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A graveside service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Doniphan City Cemetery with Pastor John Harwell officiating.
