Obituary of Mac Ray Emmons

Mac Ray Emmons, 87 year old resident of Ripley County departed this life Wednesday, November 25, 2020 surrounded by his loving family at his home. Mac was born November 8, 1933 to the late John W. Emmons and Gertrude (Landsel) Emmons. He married Vera Mae Schaffer December 20, 1952. She survives.
Mac was a lifetime sawmill owner/operator and cattle farmer. Mac and Vera worked side-by-side in life. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mac was an avid trail rider, known to his friends as “the Mule Man”.
Surviving are his wife, Vera; Son Jerry and daughter-in-law Cathy; grandsons Brian (Anna) Emmons, grandson Jeremy (Gail) Emmons, granddaughter Kristy (Greg) McElhaney; Son Ron (Karen) Emmons, grandchildren Erica (Brad) Smith, Vanessa (Ryan) Adams and 10 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother Bill (Maryetta) Emmons, Sisters Virginia Wertenberger, Wanda Lyerla, Betty Brooks; and many nieces and nephews.
Mac was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerald, J.W. and Wayne Emmons.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 2 PM on the family farm. Pastor Ronnie Payne will officiate.
