Obituary of Virginia Ann Barkley
Please share a memory of Virginia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On Tuesday, July 27th, 2021, Virginia Barkley, loving mother and grandmother of three children and nine grandchildren, passed away at the age of 70.
Virginia was born on February 16, 1951, in Zanesville, OH to Gene and Dora Blair. She grew up in Richmond, IN, with her brother, Bill Blair, and her sister, Beverly Montavo.
If you knew Virginia, you knew her favorite pastime was attending yard sales. She loved getting up before daylight and heading out with a newspaper in hand searching for the best deals. She loved buying things for her kids and grandkids and never came home empty-handed. If there was an Olympic medal for yardsaling, she would win Gold.
Virginia was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was funny, quick-witted, and could always take a joke. She earned the affectionate nickname Grandma Grape or “GG” because of an accidental purple hair dye situation that her grandkids teased her about every chance they got. She secretly loved it.
Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Gene, and her brother Thomas Blair. She is survived by her mother, Dora Blair, her three children, Barbara Sipes, Richard Keesling, and Tina Smith, her brother Bill Blair, her sister Beverly Montavo, nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date for family and friends.
