Obituary of Helen Roberts

Helen Gibson Roberts, 88, formerly of Doniphan, passed away on Tuesday, January 11, 2011 at her home in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. Born in Doniphan and raised in Poynor, Helen was married to Lindal Roberts, also of Doniphan, on March 31, 1941. Although Doniphan was always in the hearts of Helen and Lin, they moved to Southern Illinois in 1954 following Lin's transfer with the U.S. Forest Service. Helen was an outstanding mother and homemaker. Later, following a move to Mequon, Wisconsin in 1970, she was an assistant department manager for Sears until her retirement in the Milwaukee area. She was a member of the First Christian Church and enjoyed spending time at her cabin on the Current River, gardening, playing bridge and socializing with her friends. Helen is survived by her two daughters, Linda Roberts Ellsworth of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, and Carol Roberts Blackman of Marion, Illinois; sons Jim Roberts of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Doug (Ellen) Roberts of Mequon, Wisconsin; her seven grandchildren, Shelby Blackman Gerretsen of O'Fallon, Missouri, Chris Ellsworth, of Columbia Maryland, Jessica and Corey Roberts of Mequon, Wisconsin, Allysen Roberts of Phoenix Arizona, Bryan Roberts of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Sean Roberts of Faulkner Maryland; and great granddaughter, Isabelle Clark of O'Fallon, Missouri. She was preceded in death her parents, Roy Gibson and Essie Johnson Gibson of Poynor, Missouri, and by her husband, Lindal who passed away in May 1980. Memorial services will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan Missouri on Saturday 15 January at 1:00 pm with Rev John Harwell of the First Christian Church of Doniphan officiating Condolences may be sent to the family via the internet site www.edwardsfuneralhome.org
