Joseph Ethan "Joe" Powers, 48, of Grandin, Missouri, died Thursday, March 3, 2011, at the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Powers, son of Alvis and Bea (Yon) Powers, was born March 12, 1962, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was a former volunteer deputy sheriff. Mr. Powers was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in Desert Storm. On March 15, 1980, he was married to Pamela Hanks in Grandin, Missouri. She survives. Also surviving are three children; Joey E. Powers, Rachel Kearbey and Kayla Maxwell and husband, William, all of Grandin, Missouri; one sister, Angela Powers; one brother, Alvis Powers; four sisters-in-law, Debbie Welsh and Karen Pennington and husband, Kevin, both of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, Brenda Wilkinson and husband, Brent, of Crocker, Missouri, and Kimberly Richmond and husband, Dan of Hawaii; one brother-in-law, Darrell Hanks and wife, Susan, of Grandin, Missouri; three grandchildren, Ilia Brown, Alec Kearbey and Riley Maxwell; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Delbert and Lorine Hanks of Grandin, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Freida Cooley, and one brother, Perry Powers. Visitation for Mr. Powers will be Saturday evening, March 5, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan, Missouri. The funeral service will follow on Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2011, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Bill Orr officiating. Burial will be in the Grandin City Cemetery.
