Obituary of Noah Whittom

Noah Anvers Whittom, 82,of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, February 25, 2009, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Mr. Whittom, son of the late James Earl and Rosa Belle (Leroux) Whittom, was born August 6, 1926, in Naylor, Missouri. He retired as a self-employed grocer. He was a member of the Doniphan First Church of God and enjoyed gardening, fishing and driving vacations. Mr. Whittom was a veteran of the U.S. Army and participated in the Japanese Occupational Force. On May 12, 1947, he was married to Dorothy Mae Woolard in Piggott, Arkansas. She survives. Also surviving are two sons; Charles Anvers Whittom and his wife, Linda, of San Antonio, Texas, and Ronald Earl Whittom and his wife, Elaine, of Doniphan; five brothers; Robert Whittom of Apache Junction, Arizona, Louie Whittom of Indiana, Rev. Charles Whittom of Oklahoma, David Whittom of Poplar Bluff, and Floyd Whittom, Fairview Heights, Illinois; four grandchildren; Matthew Whittom, Erin Rowland, Adam Whittom and Carol Whittom; and five great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Mr. Whittom was also preceded in death by one sister, Clara Robertson, and two brothers, Claudia Whittom and Harvey Whittom. Visitation will be Saturday evening, February 28, 2009, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Sunday afternoon, March 1, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brothers Larry Bashaw and Larry Earl officiating. Burial will follow in the Naylor Masonic Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Church of God in Doniphan.
