Mike Steven Chaligoj, 90, of Doniphan died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Poplar Bluff Regional medical Center.
Mr. Chaligoj was born October 20, 1918 in Pickens, West Virginia, the son of Frank Sr. and Meriauna Stavanna Chaligoj. The family moved to Ripley County, to the Macedonia neighborhood in 1926.
Mike was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II. He was a retired truck driver and loved to farm. He enjoyed his family and friends. He was a member of the Fairview General Baptist Church.
On October 12, 1948, he married Mary Alice Brooks in Pocahontas, AR. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Kathy Trotter of Doniphan; twos sons, Kirk and Geana Chaligoj of Poplar Bluff and John and Inez Chaligoj of Jacksboro, TN; grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Shannon and Daryl Dotson and children Morgan, Sandy, and Katie of Asheville, N.C.; Angela and Rafael Vega and son Antonio of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Brad and Casey Trotter and children Brennan and Brylie of Doniphan; Brittany and Justin McDowell and son Cade of Ellsinore; Brock and Misty Trotter of Dexter, Jordan Chaligoj of Poplar Bluff, Samantha, Gabby, Boyce and Steve Chaligoj of Jacksboro, TN.
He was preceded in death by his son-in-law Bob Trotter, his parents, one sister Anne Horvath, and four brothers Frank, Rudolph, Tony and Victor.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday and the funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 in the Edwards Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will be held in the Macedonia Cemetery.
