Obituary of George Walker

George Ike Walker, 83-year-old resident of Doniphan, died July 9, 2009 at the Ripley County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Walker was born June 8, 1926 in Ripley County to the late Elmer and Effie Payne Walker.
Mr. Walker was retired having previously worked as an engineer for a tie company in Granite City, Ill., and also the Baldwin Rocking 66 Ranch. He enjoyed farm work, gardening, and mechanics.
Mr. Walker was married to Marlen Dusichina Walker, and she survives. Also surviving are two sons, Larry Walker of Doniphan; David Walker of Fairdealing; one daughter, Ina May Crockett of Oxly; one sister, Lorene Faye of Belleville, Ill.; two brothers, Elmer Clifford Walker of Ponder, and Rube Walker of Doniphan; also surviving are five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was also preceded in death by one sister, Irene Smith.
Visitation will be Friday evening, July 10 from 5-8 P.M. Funeral Services for Mr. Walker will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 11, 2009 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hubert Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
