Obituary of Nola Payne

Nola Lee Payne, 78, of Doniphan, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Payne was born July 13, 1928, in Doniphan, Missouri. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Payne enjoyed taking care of children, doing crossword puzzles, reading, sewing, gardening and watching birds.
On May 3, 1948, she was married to Walter Payne in Ripley County. He preceded her in death on February 4, 1986.
Surviving are five sons; Harold Bliss of Grandin, David Payne, Robert Payne and Daniel Payne, all of Doniphan, Thomas Payne of Fairdealing; four daughters; Judy Swigert, Becky Boshears and Margaret Payne all of Doniphan, and June Baker of West Burlington, Iowa; three sisters; Viola Treaster of Reno, Nevada, Bonnie Dodd of Camp Verdi, Arizona and Dixie Erickson of Springdale, Arizona; one brother, John Whitwell of Caseyville, Illinois; 28 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grover Whitwell and Iva Martin Whitwell, one brother, Grover Whitwell, Jr. and one sister, Pauline Decker.
Visitation will be Sunday, February 25, 2007, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Edwards Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Monday, February 26, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
