Helen (Honeycutt) Duffey, 79, was called home to be with her Savior Tuesday, 09/01/2015. She passed away at home surrounded by her family. Mrs. Duffey was born in Doniphan February 13, 1936 to C.O. and Madeline (Niswonger) Honeycutt. She graduated from Doniphan High School in 1954 and married James Irving Duffey May 26, 1954. They settled in Troy, Missouri to raise their two daughters but returned to Doniphan when she and her husband retired. She was very active in church activities throughout her life, from singing in the choir to teaching Sunday School for various ages. She also was a successful business owner, active volunteer, avid reader, and enjoyed all forms of music - particularly, easy listening instrumental and gospel music. She is survived by her loving husband of 61 years, James and two devoted daughters, Brenda (Todd) Walberg of Pleasanton, California and Teresa Johnston of Hannibal, Missouri; two grandchildren, Sonya and James Johnston; two great grandchildren, Lukas and Chloe. Other survivors include a sister Joyce (Thomas) Hight of Enid, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Nema Duffey of Doniphan, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by both her parents; brothers Ocie Ray and Kenneth Honeycutt; sisters Ethel Honeycutt and Dessie Swift; niece Barbara Honeycutt; nephew Leon Swift. Visitation will take place Thursday evening, September 3, 2015, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be held Friday, September 04, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Richard Rhea officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to organizations that invest in lives – particularly church mission work.
