Betty J. Hodges, 80, of Fairdealing, Missouri, departed this life Sunday, September 27, 2015, at Mercy Jefferson Hospital in Crystal City, Missouri.
Mrs. Hodges, daughter of the late Walter Lee and Martha (Scheffler) McCormick, was born October 31, 1934, in Charleston, Missouri. She was a housewife. Mrs. Hodges loved to play Bingo and enjoyed her cows when living on the farm in rural Ripley County. She was of the Baptist faith and had formerly attended Current River Baptist Church.
On December 25, 1964, she was married to James R. Hodges in Barlow, Kentucky. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1992.
Surviving are 2 daughters, Monica (and Dennis) Adkins of Spring Hill, Florida, and Sue Ellen (and Randy) Dickson of Festus, Missouri; 5 grandchildren, Marsha Robinson, Justin Ryan, Melissa Wren, Josh Dickson and Bailey Dickson; 5 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
She was also preceded in death by 2 sisters, Helen Willard and Jennie Chronister.
Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, September 30, 2015, from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Thursday afternoon, October 1, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel and burial will be at the Doniphan City Cemetery Mausoleum.
