Obituary of Audry Mae Emmons
Please share a memory of Audry to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Audry Mae Emmons, 88-years-old, departed this world for Heaven on Monday, November 16, 2015, at Life Care Center, Sullivan, MO, after her valiant battle with Alzheimer’s. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family and friends carried her through until God called her home.
Audry was born on March 17, 1927 in Doniphan, Missouri to John Rainbolt and Emzella Dellar Shepard- Rainbolt. One of 8 children, all of whom will welcome her with open arms as she joins them in the kingdom of Heaven.
Known for her decisive manner and kind heart, she touched the lives of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of caring for others will never be forgotten.
After graduating from Madison High School in Madison, Illinois, she returned home to Doniphan where she met her Sweetheart, Obery Wayne Emmons on a double blind date. Apparently it was love at first sight and the couple was married four months later on September 21, 1946 in Pocahontas, AR.
Married for 69 years, Wayne & Audry raised their 4 children, Sharon, Kenneth, Teddy and Richard over the years in East St. Louis, Illinois, and finally in Festus, Missouri. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Audry faithfully cared for family and friends throughout her lifetime. As a woman of faith and the heart of the Emmons family, Audry shaped their spirituality by her tireless Christian example, and also through various church activities where she taught children’s Sunday school class, joined prayer groups and participated in a variety of church functions. Mrs. Emmons loved to do crossword puzzles in her spare time but her greatest joy was to care for and shape the future of children and she made a career out of this gift of caring.
Audry joins many loved ones in Heaven but without a doubt the first angel to welcome her home will be her youngest son, Richard, who preceded her in the ever after.
Her surviving family members are numerous, but mainly include:
