Alvin D. Ensz, 90, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at Missouri Veteran’s Home in St. James, Missouri. Mr. Ensz, son of the late Dietrich and Nettie (Deckert) Ensz, was born December 19, 1925, in Marion, South Dakota. He had been a truck driver. Mr. Ensz was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of the Masonic Lodge and American Legion. He especially enjoyed being the announcer for the Ripley County Saddle Club for many years. On November 16, 1946, he was married to Delma Daniels and she preceded him in death on February 21, 1973. In April of 1980 he married Bette Rowe and she died April 16, 2008. Surviving are 5 daughters: Doris (Ron) Ormsby of O’Fallon, Missouri; Phyllis Ensz Featherston of Battlefield, Missouri; Kathy (Bill) Walker of St. James, Missouri; Rose (Michael) Straughn of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Mary Ann Ensz Bell of Doniphan; 1 son, Danny (Janey) Ensz of Springfield, Missouri; 2 step-children, Shirley (Jerry) Delashmit and Sarah (George) Wymore; 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. Visitation for Mr. Ensz will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 26, 2016, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan and will conclude with a masonic service at 1:00 p.m. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
