Obituary of Michael Vernon Wilson

Michael Vernon Wilson, 66, of Doniphan, Missouri, departed this life Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Southeast Health of Ripley County. Mr. Wilson, son of Donnie Bailey and Gusta Vernon (Hovis) Wilson, was born August 29, 1949, in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. He had been a farmer and enjoyed being with his family, hunting, animals and telling jokes. Mr. Wilson was a road commissioner for the Doniphan Special Road District. In 1980 he was married to Carolyn Grace and she survives. Also surviving are 7 children; Dora (Kurt) Parker of Winfield, Missouri, Michelle Audrain of New Madrid, Missouri, Alena (Doug) Abrahamson of Pecatonica, Illinois, Roger (Nikki) Strouse of Paragould, Arkansas, Terry (Crystal) Trostel of Doniphan, Carla (DeWayne) Turner of Doniphan and Tony (Linda) Trostel of Doniphan; 18 grandchildren, Erin, Christopher, Emily, Michael, Danie, Lane, Bailie, Alexis, Breana, Meagan, Katelyn, Mackenzie, Cassie, Dana, Kylee, Corey, Cidney and Alex; 10 great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Madison, Kayden, Gaven, TreaShawn, Khloe, Everette, Chase, Brayden and Addison; 5 sisters, Mamie Jean Brown and Dorothy Cato, both of Doniphan; Corene Collins of Arnold, Missouri, Linda Collins of Dickson, Tennessee, and Virginia Heslep of O’Fallon, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Donnie and Gusta Wilson; brothers, Hurlen Wilson, Doug Wilson, Jerry Wilson and Johnnie Wilson; and sisters, Nadine Pyle, Rose Schnurr and Sharron Meadors. A memorial service will take place Saturday morning, June 4, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.
