Obituary of William Chester Rhames

LCDR William Chester “Bill” Rhames, 69, of Doniphan, Missouri, went to be with his Lord Monday, January 23, 2017, at his residence in rural Doniphan. Mr. Rhames, son of William James and Mary Evelyn (Harmon) Rhames, was born October 14, 1947, in Florence, South Carolina. He was retired from the U. S. Navy and during his time in the military, served a tour of duty in Vietnam. Sometime after retiring, he graduated with a B. S.degree from Trevecca Nazarene College, majoring in pastoral ministry and minoring in business. Mr. Rhames later became owner/operator of County Tractor and Equipment. Mr. Rhames enjoyed restoring classic vehicles and sharing God’s word. He attended His Place Church. On November 18, 1967, he was married to Linda Hagarty in Lisle, Illinois, who survives. Also surviving are 3 children: William Jay Rhames and Andrea Jonine Blackshear, both of Doniphan and Jessea Marie Negless of Kansas City; 2 sisters, Nancy Yvonne Timmons of Doniphan and Evelyn Marie Bailey of Florida; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Mr. Rhames was preceded in death by his parents and 1 grandchild, Ahren Elijah Blackshear. Visitation will begin at 11:00 a.m. Friday morning, January 27, 2017, at His Place Church in Doniphan. A memorial service will follow at noon in the church sanctuary with Brother Dan Craig officiating.
