Obituary of Naomi Kitty Burger

Naomi "Kitty" Braschler Studt Burger, 91, of Fairdealing died Sunday morning May 27.

​Mrs. Burger was born February 10, 1927 in Pratt,Missouri.  Her parents Frona Patterson Gibson Braschler and “Big” Weaver Braschler; two brothers, J R “Jack” Gibson and Eugene Braschler; a sister Ruth Braschler Janke, and two husbands Melvin Studt and Edward Burger preceded her in death.  

​Naomi grew up in Pratt and attended Doniphan High School .  She moved to Memphis, TN during WWII.  In Memphis while working for General Electric, she met and married her first husband Melvin Studt on July 1, 1949.  After Mel’s death, she married Ed Burger on November 21, 1983.  Kitty and Ed made a home in Fairdealing shortly after their wedding.  

In Memphis, Naomi worked at General Electric, Ely Walker, and Russell Stover’s.  She retired in order to better care for her mother.  Kitty loved to hunt ducks, to fish and to garden.  She was an activemember of the Tennessee Iris Society and the Day Lily Society.  She was a pink lady at Memphis Baptist Hospital.  Naomi was a member of the First Baptist Church of Poplar Bluff where she also did volunteer work and was a charter member of a China painting group.  She won many awards for her artistic ability.  Examples of her painting are scattered throughout the community and with her circle of friends and family.  She volunteered for many years at the Current River Heritage Museum in Doniphan.  

​She is survived by a stepdaughter Jerri Ann Harris and grandchildren, Judy Rubush , Hal Schott and PamHeitz; a special cousin Mr. Ron Brooks, and nieces and nephews as well as great- and great-great- nieces and nephews too numerous to name.

​Mrs. Burger was honored in February of 2017 with a party at the community center on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday.

​Visitation begins at 10 AM on Thursday at Edward’s Funeral Home in Doniphan.  The funeral will be at 1 PM, Thursday also at Edward’s.  The Rev. Mark Janke, Naomi’s nephew, will conduct the services.

​Burial will be at the Pratt Cemetery.
