Obituary of Cleola Sawyer

Cleola Mae Sawyer, 87-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO departed this life Monday, October 1, 2018 in Doniphan, MO.  Mrs. Sawyer, daughter of the late Percy and Cleeta Thacker Evans was born May 2, 1931 in Hydro, OK.  She had been a homemaker and was partial to raising pigs with her husband, Harice.  Mrs. Sawyer enjoyed hunting, camping with her family, the annual Labor Day fish fry, and watching all her grandkids swim in the river.  She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church.

 

On January 21, 1950, she was married to Harice Sawyer, who preceded her in death August 23, 2018.  In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by 2 children, Bob and Theresa Sawyer; sisters Melba Wilson and Jean Inman; brothers Carl and Roger Evans; grandson Brian Day; and son-in-law Jerry Tipton.

 

Surviving are 5 children, Linda (Mike) Rawlings of Risco, MO; Shirley (Bill) Smith of Dyersburg, TN; David (Emma) Sawyer of Sikeston, MO; Judy Tipton of Malden, MO; and Shelia (Mike) Day of Doniphan, MO; sister Juanita Sawyer of Aurora, IL; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Sawyer will be held at 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 4, 2018 in the Edwards Funeral Chapel with Bro. Hubert Payne officiating.  Visiting will be Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery.

 

Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
