Obituary of Helena Chronister

 Helena Chronister was born on October 24, 1924, and she passed away on January 11, 2019, at 94 years old. 

Helena was an extraordinary woman with a spunky nature who never knew a stranger.  She was born to Russell Harvey Hurt and Margaret Emiline Hurt in Handy, Missouri.

She is preceded in death by her parents and first husband, William Cordell Crawford and second husband, William Chronister; her brothers and sisters, Burley Hurt, Henry Hurt, Roy Hurt, Ted Hurt, Lula, Della, Amy and Lida; and one daughter-in-law, Wanda Crawford.

She was survived by her brother, Calvin; her children, Leroy Crawford and Margaret James; 7 grandkids, Dustin Smith, Samantha Snider, Junior Hudson, David Hudson, Debbie Coffmann and Kimberly Ragsdale; 10 great-grandkids, Jessica Lewis, Crystal Chubs, Tonya Burrel, Dustin Lewis, Danielle Snider, Bella Snider, Sofia Snider, Rosalie Ragsdale and Ryland Ragsdale; and 12 great-great grandkids, Anika, Emma, Augustus, Woodrow, Jayden, Alyssa, Alayna, Kaylee, Kiya, Kirea, Joey and Lilly.  She was also survived by a special friend, Debbie Gaston.

She was loved by many and will be missed by all who know her.  She was lively until the end.  She would dance a jig or tell stories that would capture your soul.  She loved music and spending time with her family and friends.  Though her body has perished, her memory will live on in all of our hearts.  In life she embraced each day and would only want to be remembered in the same way.

Her funeral will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel in Doniphan.  Visitation will begin prior to the service starting at 11:00 a.m.  Burial will be at the Pine Cemetery in rural Ripley County, Missouri.
