Obituary of Belva Evelyn Stroud

Belva Evelyn Humphries Stroud departed this life at Sonshine Manor in Republic, MO on June 3, 2019. She was 102.  Belva was born to the late Hubert Lee and Daisy Della Davidson Humphries on March 30, 1917 in Ripley County.

Mrs. Stroud worked for McDonnell Aircraft corporation in St. Louis beginning in 1942 for almost 18 years. She worked and led aircraft projects for the military and for landing craft for the Space Program. Afterwards, Belva was the office manager for Megastar Corporation until her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, reading the Bible, and providing love, help, and encouragement to family and friends. Belva was the absolute picture of unselfish love. Mrs. Stroud was a member of the First Baptist Church in Canyon, Texas.

On December 8, 1934 Belva married Homer Everett Stroud in Doniphan. He preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her younger sisters, Nora Humphries Richards, who was two years younger than Belva, and Dorothy Humphries Reeves, who was seven years younger.

Mrs. Stroud is survived by her daughter, D. Marilyn Phillips; her grandchildren, Brad Lamar Phillips and Scott Lamar Phillips; and her great-grandchild Sagan Elora Phillips.

Visitation for Belva will be Friday, June 14, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with a graveside service following at 2:30 at Spring Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wade Philips, Scott Phillips, Brad Phillips, and Chuck Richards.
