Obituary of Christine March Foster

Christine Irene March-Foster was born December 4, 1931, to Earl and Eva (Hawks) Gentry.  She passed from this life to glory on Saturday, August 31, 2019, in Doniphan, MO.  As we have been told that it will happen in a ‘twinkling of an eye’, it was witnessed by a loved one at 3:23 am when there was an ‘arc of light’ and she gained her release from this mortal body and gained her reward.

 

Christine was a life long resident of Doniphan, MO, with a few stints in Rockford, IL.  She attended West Point United Pentecostal Church, along with five generations of family.  She loved her church family as her own; though a majority of the church are her actual family, either by blood or marriage.

 

She loved having family at her house, playing games or just visiting, and her home was always open.  Other things she enjoyed were Cardinals baseball, watching her children/grandchildren play ball, and fishing.  Also spending time at the river or lake combining two of her loves of fishing and family time together was one of her favorite things.

 

Christine is survived by three children: Dalton (Deborah) March and Lynn (Becky) March of Doniphan, MO; and Romona (James) Larson of Poplar Bluff, MO.  She leaves a legacy of fourteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.  She is also survived by a daughter-in-law Becky March Courtney of St. Louis, MO; son-in-law Elmer Littrell and her sister Myrtle (Delno) Gentry of Doniphan, MO, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who also celebrate this transition to glory.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands who were influential in the lives of their children, Samuel March and Kenny Foster; two daughters, Claudetta Littrell and Roseanne March; and one son, Alden March.

 

She was a woman of love, grace, and showed resilience through life.  Resilience is the ability to recoil or spring back into shape after bending, stretching, or being compressed.  She bounced back and raised her family after divorce until meeting her second husband who stepped in to help.  She proved that there was no burden too hard to handle when she unselfishly raised a handicapped daughter, and proved God’s grace and that He does supply the strength you need to continue on through the death of three of her children.  She was an example to her family and those around her that God’s love is unfailing.  The pat on the hand, the kiss on the cheek, the ‘I love you’ that was spoken to family members as you walked out the door of the church — the place you gained your strength and made sure your family understood was a refuge that was to be cherished and respected.  We are your legacy, we are your earthly fortune...we will continue this course until we see you again in glory.  This is not ‘goodbye’, it’s just “see you later”.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 7th, 2019 from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. at the West Point Pentecostal Church in Doniphan. The funeral will take place Saturday, September 7th, 2019 at 1 pm, also at the West Point Pentecostal Church with Brothers Riley March & Chuck Carr officiating. Burial will follow in the Amity Cemetery.
