Obituary of Leroy Spencer

Leroy Spencer, 91-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Monday, July 13, 2020. He was born May 11, 1929 in Poynor, MO. Leroy was a farmer and sawmiller. He raised cattle and enjoyed riding horses. Mr. Spencer had also worked for Ozark Border with right-of-way maintenance. He enjoyed running his dogs and hearing them on the hunt for coyote, fox, and rabbits. Another of his favorite pastimes was watching his grandchildren and going to their activities. Leroy served in the United States Army during the Korean War. On October 24, 1950, Leroy married Betty Patterson. She preceded him in death on March 22, 2013. Survivors include four children Randy (Janice) Spencer; Steve (Gwen) Spencer; Dianna J (Warren) Bland and Teresa G (John) Klepzig all of Doniphan. Eleven grandchildren: Brandy (John) Starling, Mandy (Joshua) Rawlings, Nicholas (Jennifer) Spencer, Kelley (Keith) Holland, Melissa Spencer, Sarah Bland, Jeremy Lewis, Nichole (Jon) Gray, James Bland, and Aaron (Jillian) Klepzig; great grandchildren: Randa Franke, Rebecca Franke, Hunter Starling, Garrett Starling, Levi Rawlings, Isaac Rawlings, Ian Spencer, Anna Spencer, Wyatt Spencer, Waylon Spencer, Carter Spencer, Randi Spencer, Brooklyn Thomas, Chance Watson, Jace Bland, Madalyn Lewis, Daxton Gray, Kyndall Gray, Brooklynn Klepzig, Paysley Klepzig, and Jaxon Klepzig. Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by his mother, Jessie Spencer; son, Larry Neal Spencer; and his grandsons, Joshua Bland and Zachary Spencer. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 14, 2020 from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Spencer Cemetery.
