I am just learning of Mrs. Murdock’s passing. I was one of the many, many students who had the opportunity to have her as a teacher. She was a remarkable lady. She never pretended to be someone she wasn’t. She was my home room teacher in 6th grade. I will never forget learning to write poetry from her and listening to her read “Sounder.” From the moment she began reading that book I was forever hooked on reading. I cried at the end of the story. When she read it was like seeing a theater production. She could make one visualize every character and setting in a book. In my senior year, I had the great opportunity to once again be a student in her Journalism class. Through both of those classes she heighten my love of writing! I can remember so much of what she taught me and I have applied it to my own life as a teacher of 38 years now. Mrs. Murdock along with Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Bonnell were the best teachers a student could have at DHS! My heart breaks with her family during this most difficult time but I rejoice in knowing she will never ever be forgotten. She DID make a difference in many lives as the iconic teacher that she became. Betty Faye Murdock was a true treasure. I am beyond thankful she touched my life. I have no doubt she is reading stories to young angels now while sitting on a cloud and pushing the hair out of her face. Please know you all are lifted up in my prayers.

Mrs Betty was my very first teacher and I have very fond memories of those first years. She was great with the students and I can't think of anyone that did not love her as a teacher and a friend. She became extended family later by way of my cousins Raymond (Roberta)and Peggy (Daniel) my sympathy to them and all of her family. God bless each of you and keep her memory alive.
Cousin,
Gay

Thinking of you today. Betty's innovative spirit and caring soul will live on in colorful memories of the lives she touched. She planted countless seeds of children's dreams and expanded the minds and horizons of those in her classrooms. I pray that knowledge comforts you on this day.
