Obituary of Esther Chaffin

Esther Chaffin, former resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL. She was born November 30, 1938 in Waukegan, IL to the late Edwin and Henrietta (Brown) Coates. Esther was 81.
On April 23, 1957, Esther married Marvin Chaffin in Waukegan, Il. He preceded her in death. Esther and Marvin moved to Ripley County in 1960. She was a homemaker in her own home and was a member of VFW Post #3485 and the Eagles Club Auxiliary.
Surviving are her children, Joanna (Larry) Hoene of Sigel, IL and George (Tammy) Chaffin of St. Charles, MO; eight grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Esther was preceded in death by one son, Marvin E. Chaffin and three stepchildren, Harold Chaffin, Larry Chaffin, and Norma Palazzolo.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2020 in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel with a funeral service following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Ponder Cemetery.
