Steve Knapp, Sr., 93, of Grandin, Missouri, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011, at his residence.
Mr. Knapp, son of John and Margartha (Wagner) Knapp, was born May 4, 1918, in Pesno Brand, Yugoslavia. He had been a pipefitter with Monsanto in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Knap enjoyed gardening, fishing and making wine. He served with the U. S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #300 in Afton, Missouri.
On August 30, 1947, he was married to Shirley Kern in St. Louis, Missouri, and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons; Steve Knapp, Jr. of St. Louis, Missouri, Joe Knapp of Grandin, Missouri, John Knapp of Doniphan, Missouri, and Paul Knapp of Poynor, Missouri; one daughter, Margaret Knapp of Grandin, Missouri; and seventeen grandchildren, thirty-six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Knapp was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margartha Knapp, one grandon, John Knapp, Jr., three brothers and six sisters.
Visitation will begin Wednesday morning, November 16, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow at noon in the funeral home chapel and burial will be in the Grandin City Cemetery.
