Obituary of Ruth Whitaker

Anna Ruth Whitaker, 90, departed this life Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis, MO. She was born April 26, 1931 in Naylor, MO to the late Rollie J. and Margaret (Merrell) Ivy. Ruth had worked at Vitronic. She was a great cook, homemaker, and entertainer welcoming friends and family into her home with warmth, comfort, and love. She enjoyed sewing and making quilts. Ruth also liked to paint. On December 19, 1992, Ruth married Jay Thomas Whitaker in Poplar Bluff, MO. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her sibling, Verneal King and James T., Homer M., Leo, and Cleo M. Ivy. Surviving are her children, Keith Sherrill of Doniphan, MO. Stephen (Lisa) Sherrill of Webster Groves, MO, and Dan Sherrill and his good friend, Tami, of St. Louis; stepchildren, Paul Thomas Whitaker of DeSoto, MO, Peggy Farris of St. Charles, MO, and Dorothy Young of Doniphan. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Casey, Luke, and Austin. They were her pride and joy. A graveside service will be held at noon on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Gum Cemetery near Naylor, MO. Memorials may be made in her name to a charity of your choice.
