Joe Edward Dalton ended his 88-year journey in his home in Doniphan, MO on November 18, 2021, surrounded by his loved ones.
Joe was married to Ruth (Lawson) Dalton on May 26, 1972, and she survives. In addition, he is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Dalton, and grandchildren, Sam, Anna, and Emily Williams, all of Springfield, Missouri, and his tireless and dedicated caregiver, Ashlee March of Doniphan.
Mr. Dalton, son of the late Earl and Ila Dalton, was born June 27, 1933, in Ponder, Missouri. He was a lifetime resident of Doniphan, and his greatest joy was farming alongside his dad on their beef cattle farm. In his younger days, Joe enjoyed bowling and amassed quite a collection of trophies along with his teammates. Joe was unwavering in his love and defense of animals of all kinds and the various four-legged companions he had throughout his lifetime brought him much happiness.
At Joe’s request, a private graveside service for immediate family members is planned. The family asks those wishing to honor Joe’s steadfast love of animals consider making a donation to the Humane Society of Southwest Missouri (3161 W Norton Road, Springfield, MO 65803) or another animal welfare organization of their choice.
