Obituary of Louise Everhart

Helen Louise Everhart, 90, of Silva, MO and formerly of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. She was born February 9, 1931 in Marshall, IL to the late Mike and Helen (Smith) Baker. Louise was a schoolteacher and had taught in several county schools. She enjoyed traveling, reading, poetry, and gardening. In addition to teaching, Louise had a wide variety of employment experiences, including driving an 18-wheeler and being a bank manager at Mercantile Bank for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Doniphan. Louise was an active member of the Doniphan Community. She was a member of many organizations including Chamber of Commerce, PTA, BPW (Business Professional Women’s Club), and many others. She was instrumental in getting the Doniphan Senior Citizen Housing built. In 1983, Louise married Jim Everhart of Silva. He survives. Also surviving are her children, Richard Gere, Tina Gere, and Scott Gere, all of Doniphan; stepchildren, Melody Everhart, Tim Everhart, Scott Everhart, Walt Everhart, and Roger Everhart; a sister, Jean Collins of Doniphan; as well as 30 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Louise was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Jean Gere, and a brother, Leo Baker. Visitation will be in the Edwards funeral Home Chapel on Monday, January 10, 2021 beginning at noon with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Sloan Parker will be officiating. Burial will be in Bethany Cemetery.
