Obituary of Marilyn Penrod

Marilyn Sue Penrod, formerly of Fairdealing, MO, passed on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at The Manor in Poplar Bluff, MO. Marilyn was the daughter of James E. and Helen (Sloan) Hochthurn, born May 27, 1940, in Jefferson County, MO.

 

In 1977, Marilyn married Jerry I. Penrod in Clayton, MO. Near their retirement age, Mary and Jerry moved to Fairdealing. Mary loved her country home with Jerry. She enjoyed growing flowers and taking photos. She befriended many stray animals and made pampered pets out of them. She loved to socialize and go on shopping trips with friends. Prior to retirement, she worked at St. Anthony’s Hospital in the social services department. She was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Doniphan.

 

Surviving are two stepchildren, Karen Penrod of Cape Girardeau, MO and Keith Penrod of DeSoto, MO; one sister, Ren Drummond of Winter, CA; and a sister-in-law, Penney Crowley of Sunset Hills, MO.

 

Mary was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a brother, Mike of St. Louis, MO; and a sister, Carole of California.

 

Visitation will be from 11:00 am till noon Wed. Sept. 28 at Edwards Funeral Home.  Graveside services will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery in Fairdealing, with Bro. Kent Wilfong officiating.
