Obituary of Emily Elizabeth Ruth Townsend

Emily Elizabeth Ruth Townsend, 13, of Collinsville, IL, departed this life Sunday, November 6, 2022. She was the daughter of Charles Ray and Amber Kay (Crone) Townsend, born May 7, 2009, in Granite City, IL.

Emily was a typical teenager who enjoyed playing video games and watching videos on YouTube. Her favorite video game was Mine Craft. She loved to challenge her cousin on this game. Emily also delighted in Disney characters. She liked Frozen and the song “Let it Go”, but her favorite characters were Mickey and Minnie Mouse. She kept a stuffed Mickey and Minnie in her room and usually slept with them hugged close.

Emily leaves behind her parents; a brother, Vincent Townsend; her maternal grandparents, Leonard and Shirley Crone of Granite City; and her paternal grandmother, Marie Townsend of Grandin, MO.

Emily was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Lindin Townsend.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, beginning at noon with the funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Brother Elijah Allen will be officiating. Burial will be in the Grandin-Carter County Cemetery.
