Nan and I were lifelong friends, born within five months of each other. We walked into first grade that first day clutching each other's hand for support. Our mothers were friends, our families were friends, and Nan and I were close and loving our entire lives. When I came to Doniphan in recent years, I often stayed with her. Doniphan will not be the same without her. Her absence leaves a hole in my heart.
