Obituary of Anna Mae Barnes
Anna Mae Barnes, 95, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Sunday, August 20, 2023, at Randolph County Nursing Home in Pocahontas, AR. Mrs. Barnes, daughter of the late Avon and Minnie (Winters) Gibson, was born December 9, 1927, in Poynor, MO.
On December 4, 1947, Anna Mae married Allen D. Barnes in Poyner. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Barnes was a lifetime member of the Doniphan Church of God. Being active in the community, she was a 4-H leader and worked with others in the Homemakers Club. She loved to make quilts and always gave to families who lost their homes due to fire. At the beginning of COVID-19, she sewed hundreds of masks for the staff of Randolph County Nursing Home. She worked on the family farm helping her husband and loved to garden and canned food. Anna Mae was famous for her chicken and dumplings and hosted Christmas, Thanksgiving, and other family events.
Surviving are three children, Cindy (Melvin) Nesbit of Doniphan, Nancy (Paul) Dismang of El Paso, AR, and Walter (Peggy) Barnes of Licking, MO; one brother, Charles Eugene (Jenny) Gibson of Atlanta, GA; eight grandchildren, Amy Armetta (Terry) Hayes, Kirk Allen (Tammy) Barnes, Alana Jo Barnes (Derick) Lagemann, Elaina Barnes (Shawn) Degon, William Allen (Cynthia) Dismang, Jonathan Paul (Mandy) Dismang, Kyle Ray (Sneha) Dismang, and Elizabeth Ann Dismang (Mitch) Breitweiser; 20 great-grandchildren, Hunter Hayes, Brandon (Victoria) Loveless, Ryan Loveless, Armetta D. Loveless, Cade Dismang, Cole Dismang, Kylee Dismang, Sawyer Dismang, Yogi Dismang, Kai Dismang, Kamryn Barnes, Jadyn Barnes, Collin Nash, Kaleigh (Andy) O’Daniel, Maggie (AJ) Rodts, Carter Degon, Connor Degon, Abigail Lagemann, Isabella Lagemann, and Brody Lagemann; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Geneva Gibson Bagwill; and a daughter of the heart, Rosemary Gibson (Charlie) Barcliff; as well as many surviving nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and two brothers, Roy Lee Gibson, and Lavon Gibson.
Visitation will be Saturday August 26, 2023, from 5-8 pm, and funeral services will be Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 2 pm with Bro. Elijah Allen and Minister Gerald Fears officiating. The funeral and visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Poyner Cemetery. Serving as pall bearers will be Kirk Barnes, William Dismang, Jonathan Dismang, Kyle Dismang, Brandon Loveless, and Ryan Loveless.
