May the Lord soothe our hearts at this time of great loss as we remember Gary, divinely infused with kindness and wisdom, his energy radiating love akin to warmth in a friendly smile. Blessed are those memories etched in our minds; building Christmas bird feeders with Pappy. His loss cuts deep but we find comfort knowing his thoughtfulness and generosity will continue inspiring us forevermore. Every feathered visitor carries a sweet whisper of him - greatly missed but never forgotten.

Gary was a true friend to my husband and I for a lot of years. And as my husband Danny O'Brien would call Gary{Hillbilly] I do not know how he came up with that nick name, but it stuck for many years. Gary rest in peace. We will miss you. Shirley O'brien

Gary and I met over 3 decades ago while I was helping his son in middle school. The moment we met it was like 2 old friends getting together after many years had passed.
We were very different in some ways but like 2 brothers catching up over a span of time.
After years we became close friends and even our wives became friends and we enjoyed many meals and good times together.
Gary had an incredible sense of humor and was always positive and strong willed. We would talk weekly and get together to share good times, laughs food and some beers.
He stayed strong through cancer and fought to continue his new life in Missouri with Jenny.
My wife and I miss him every day and know that he is watching over us as only Gary could do.
He was one of my dearest and closest friends and toast him every time I have a beer!

Both myself and my brother before me had the pleasure of working with Gary at Napa for several years. He was truly one of a kind, and everyone could see that. Many people would call in just to talk to him, and they knew better than to try him to get to do any work before he had his breakfast and his morning coffee. To all of his family and everyone that knew him I send my condolences.

I had the privilege of working with Gary for almost a decade at NAPA Eldersburg, Maryland. I became his coworker in 2011, though I was his customer well before that. Gary made coming to NAPA a pleasure. When he was absent, he was more like coming to “work “. He was always upbeat and carrying on often, he made the day cruise by. At Napa he had a rather large following. Many customers would be willing to wait for Gary even when they needed something very insignificant. Folks calling on the phone, “I’ll wait for Gary”, sometimes tying up 2 and 3 phone lines. Gary was old school , although he use the computer he never relied on it. He had about 4 foot of manuals in a rack at his workstation and many more under the counter. Whether it was a $.50 part or a $500 part you still received the same comprehensive attention. What I enjoyed mostly was when one of the old codgers would perch himself on the stool right in front of Gary’s station. The business would be peppered with talk of livestock, farming, tractors, weather, family, and an occasional sprinkling of politics. Of my friend, I can say this; he was kind, loyal, devoted, honest, and just a good soul. I feel very fortunate to have had him as a friend. I would say to him “you’re the brother I never had, my brother from another mother. “ I will forever miss him but always remember our time together. My heartfelt condolences to Ginny, the kids and grandkids , the large family back in and around Cumberland, and all who knew and loved him.

Gary was a good friend, Danny always called him Hillbilly. We had a Gas Station and Gary was our Parts guy. Jenny and Gary were great friends and it was a terrible shock to here of his passing, but Danny and Gary are now having a good bull crapping session I am sure . Rest in piece Gary.
