Obituary of Marena Hendrix

Esther “Marena” Hendrix, 83, departed this life October 16, 2023. She was born December 10, 1939, in Magazine, AR, to the late James David and Bertha (Loghry) Todd.

An avid seamstress and quilter, Marena’s love would shine through in the items she made, especially her quilts. She was of the Christian faith.

In 1969, Marena married Robert “Bob” Hendrix in Corning, AR. He preceded her in death in 2002. Later she married Johnathan Haney in 2020. He, too, preceded her in death in 2022. She was also preceded by a son, David Scrivner; her brothers, Sam and Ted Todd; and a sister, Martha Miller.

Surviving are her children, Theresa Whaley of Poplar Bluff, MO, Tim Hendrix, also of Poplar Bluff, MO, Kevin Hendrix of Doniphan, Danny Richardson of Maynard, AR, and Steven Richardson of Amory, MS; brothers, Jim Todd, Doug Todd, Danny Joe Todd, Richard Todd, and Steven Todd; sisters, Mildred Burk, Mary Reed, Margaret Morse, and Melvina Hunt. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Dustin, Crystal, Serena, Kellena, Alicia, Nathan, Justin, Lyndsay, Christian, David III, Trent, Tabitha, Colt, Dylan, Taylor, Gavin, Madalyn, Koby, and Ryley, along with 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 20, 2023, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Brother Justin Woodworth will be officiating, and burial will be in Amity Cemetery.
