Obituary of Chuck Coomer
Charles “Chuck” Coomer, 60-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro, AR. He was born August 1, 1963, in East St. Louis, IL to the late Anita Raye (Daust) and Jackie Franklin Coomer.
To know Chuck was to love him. You knew you had won his heart if he picked on you. He had a contagious smile, outgoing personality, positive outlook, was strong-willed and a jokester, making him a friend to many. Chuck demonstrated unwavering and phenomenal faith in God and was devoted to his family and friends having an impact on countless people and leaving the community to mourn an immense loss. He attended West Point United Pentecostal Church. Chuck was a sales associate with Harry Blackwell Preowned Auto Sales. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes along with telling many stories surrounding these adventures and his hunting dogs. He participated in competitive hunting and was a member of USDC and NSD Squirrel Hunting Clubs. Chuck won the Missouri Governors Cup in coon hunting and proclaimed himself a “legend” in the hunting community. Along with the many miles he covered while walking in the woods hunting, he and Pam also crossed many miles and saw many sights while traveling on his motorcycle. Chuck had served in the United States Army.
On July 27, 1985, Chuck married the love of his life, Pam Watkins in Doniphan, and he loved her true blue. She survives. Also surviving are his children, Brian (Sarah S.) Coomer, Amanda O’Neill, and Jaclyn (Bryan) Childers all of Doniphan; brothers, Jeff (Francisco) Coomer of Dallas, TX, Jack D. (Penny) Coomer of Delta, MO, and David (Tanya) Coomer of Whitewater, MO; and grandchildren, Abigayle Childers, Charli Childers, Emma Childers, Tomie O’Neill, Weslyn O’Neill, Kaylei Coomer, Talen Cagle, Landree Cagle, and Finlee Cagle.
In addition to his parents, Chuck was also preceded in death by his granddaughter, Charli Childers.
Visitation will be held at West Point United Pentecostal Church beginning at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Pastors Chuck Carr and Gary Teague will officiate, and burial will be in Pope Chapel Cemetery.
