Obituary of Sara Ann Plunk

Sara Ann Plunk, 68-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. She was born February 6, 1955, in Omaha, NE, to the late Marie Ann Beverlyn.

Sara cherished her family, showering them with love and grace. Being a homemaker, she found great reward in caring for her family and loved to cook for them. Game time was always fun because Sara was up to the challenge and especially liked to play cards, which often became quite lively. Watching The Price is Right was also at the top of her list of activities she enjoyed. Whenever the opportunity arose, Sara also enjoyed camping and fishing. She attended West Doniphan Missionary Baptist Church.

On July 10, 1971, Sara married Jerry Plunk in Doniphan. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2021. She was also preceded by a daughter, Crystal Plunk; sisters, Becky Moody and Robbie Starman; and a brother, John Windolf.

Surviving are her children, Angela Smith (Shawn Durk) of Keokuk, IA, Neva Costner of Doniphan, and Justin Plunk (Chelsea Shipman), also of Doniphan; sisters, Maryann Hines, of Ellsinore, MO, and Betty Downs, of Poplar Bluff; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, December 9, 2023, beginning at noon with the funeral services to follow at 2:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held Monday, December 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO.
