Obituary of Cleo Frances Bass

Cleo Frances Bass, 82-year-old resident of Fairdealing, MO, departed this life Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, MO. She was born June 7, 1941, in St. Francois County, MO, to the late Hall Francklin and Julia (Pipkin) Wells.

Cleo was a homemaker who enjoyed doing special things for her family. Her home was filled with the appetizing fragrances of her baking, especially her delicious cookies. She liked to sew and spent summer days working in her bountiful garden and reaping the harvest. Cleo was also the family photographer and took pictures to mark and remember special family events and beautiful vistas.

On May 12, 1962, Cleo married Jerry Bass in Doniphan, MO. He preceded her in death on September 22, 2022. She was also preceded by a sister, Betty Cook, and brother, Paul Wells.

Surviving are her children, Brenda (Tim) Stallings of Corning, AR, Greg (Kathy) Bass of Fair Play, MO, Ricky (Maria) Bass of Fairdealing, and Jerry Lee Bass of Doniphan; a sister-in-law, Pat Wells of Louisville, KY; and grandchildren, Samatha, Hannah, Adam, Marc, Courtney, Trevor, Trenton, Erik, Taylor, and Timmy; as well as six great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, March 23, 2024, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Shirley Cemetery.
