Charles "Sonny" Johnson, 71, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, August 25, 2007, at his residence.
Mr. Johnson was born September 21, 1935, in Qulin, Missouri. He was a logger in the sawmill industry and a member of the Church of Christ. Mr. Johnson enjoyed all animals, especially chickens, and liked to sit on his back porch.
On October 22, 1955, he was married to Bonita Burkett in Hernando, Mississippi. She preceded him in death on July 24, 2006.
Surviving are four sons, Everett Douglas (Doug) Johnson, Donald (Donnie) Wayne Johnson, Charles (Charlie) Lee Johnson II and Edward (Eddie) Earl Johnson, all of Doniphan; three daughters, Connie Sue Hastings, Sheila Rosemary (Rosie) Plumb and Kimberly (Kim) Bonita Wells, all of Doniphan; and one sister, Wynette Williams of Fairdealing.
Mr. Johnson was also preceded in death by his parents, John Douglas Johnson and Rose Zetta Johnson; three sisters, Maudie Sanders, Martha Nichols and Ruby Miller and one great-granddaughter, Georgia Grace Plumb.
Visitation will be Monday, August 27, 2007, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Ben Williams officiating. Burial will be at the Shirley Cemetery.
