Obituary of Virginia L. Wertenberger
Virginia had been a homemaker who delighted in caring for her family. She was a doting mother and found reward in sewing, often making dresses for her three daughters. In later years, Virginia moved to assisted living where she was active in her group and playing BINGO was her favorite activity. Virginia was of the Baptist faith.
On February 6, 1946, Virginia married Freamon D. Wertenberger. He preceded her in death August, 2005. She was also preceded by brothers, Gerald Emmons, John Emmons, Jr., Wayne Emmons, and Mack Emmons.
Surviving are her children, Carolyn Griffin of Dexter, MO, Donna Grayson of St. Charles, MO, and Sue Meinberg of Imperial, MO; sisters, Wanda Lylera of Troy, IL, and Betty Brooks of St. Louis, MO; and a brother, Bill Emmons of Fairdealing, MO. Also surviving are her five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, June 21, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Bellview Cemetery.
