Obituary of Phillis Rose Cannon

Phillis Rose Cannon, 86-year-old resident of Doniphan, MO, departed this life Wednesday, July 31, 2024. She was born March 13, 1938, in Oxly, MO, to the late Carl and Dortha (Dabbs) Roundtree.

A warm and loving mother, Phillis raised a close family, and Cannon family gatherings were filled with fun and laughter. Built on a solid foundation and a Christian home, her children were taught respect and to do things right. She was always available to offer kind words of encouragement. Phillis was a lifetime member of West Doniphan Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and taking care of her cat. Phillis had worked in the sealing department at Vitronic.

On June 16, 1956, Phillis married Charles Leroy Cannon. He preceded her in death on September 13, 2019. She was also preceded by a sister, Alice Warner, and a brother, Glen Roundtree.

Surviving are one daughter, Judy (Ronnie) Walk of McGee, MO and three sons, Leroy (Paula Smith) Cannon, Chuck (Sandi Morter) Cannon, and Steve (Kim) Cannon, all of Doniphan. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Chad Cannon, Misty (Michael) Ramsey, Nathan (Janette) Walk, Travis Cannon, and Luke Cannon, and great-grandchildren, Caden Cannon, Abby Cannon, Cannon Ramsey, Kinley Ramsey, Presley Walk, Ella Walk, Weston Cannon, and Barrett Cannon, as well as many friends and neighbors.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, August 3, 2024, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with funeral services to follow at 1:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Cannon, Caden Cannon, Luke Cannon, Travis Cannon, Michael Ramsey, and Nathan Walk. Brother Patrick Bunn and J. R. Colburn will be officiating, and burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
