Obituary of Wanda Lee Richmond

Wanda Lee (Usher) Richmond, 92, of Anderson, MO, departed this life Thursday, September 5, 2024. She was born May 27, 1932, in Pilot Knob, MO, to the late Orville and Evelyn Julian (Billedo) Usher.

Wanda was a member of Hillsboro High School graduating class of 1951, attended Missouri Beauty Academy in Farmington, MO, and went on to pursue a successful career in cosmetology. She could style like no other. A devout Christian, Wanda was baptized at the age of sixteen on July 11, 1948. She could be found reading her Bible almost any time of the day and led a life of prayer, passing on her legacy of faith for generations that followed. She was a member of Buffalo Creek Baptist Church. Wanda enjoyed fishing, tending to her farm, driving down country roads, and picnics where she could sit for hours, watching and listening to the birds in the trees and appreciating nature. She was an excellent storyteller and a master at the game of Canasta. Even with all her loves and interests, Wanda loved her family most of all. She loved deeply and would spend much of her time at birthday parties for grandchildren and hosting family gatherings where there was never a shortage of laughter or homemade banana ice cream.

On April 9, 1961, Wanda married Harlon Richmond at the home of Goldie and Johnny Wagner in Hillsboro, MO. He preceded her in death on January 5, 2010.

Surviving are her daughters, Lea Isgrigg and her husband, Calvin, and Cassondra “Casey” Beranek and her husband, Donald; son, Byron Richmond and his wife, Esmeralda; and a sister, W. Jean (Usher) Jones. Wanda had nine grandchildren, Jennifer (Isgrigg) McCarver and husband, Clinton, Cody Isgrigg and wife, Cassidy, Keith Richmond and wife, Stephanie, Atacia (Richmond) Herr, and husband, Austin, Clayton Richmond and wife, Ashley, Zachary Lee Beranek and wife, Brittany, Donelle Beranek, Ashley (Beranek) Downey and husband, Jon, and Abigail Beranek who survive. Also surviving are 13 great-grandchildren, Madelyn McCarver, Kaiden and Elijah Richmond, Declynn, Relee, and David Garrett, and Lathe Herr, Emmett Richmond, Brylar, Diesel, and Mavryck Beranek, and Khristian and his wife, Emily, and Kayleigh Downey.

Visitation will be held in the Edwards Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, beginning at 10:00 a.m., and the funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. Brother Ken Wilfong will be officiating, and burial will be in the Stephens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Byron Richmond, Keith Richmond, Clayton Richmond, Zachary Beranek, Cody Isgrigg, Kaiden Richmond, and Brylar Beranek.
