David Lee Crain, 79, of Doniphan, MO, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home.

David was born on January 19, 1945, to Herbert and Dorthy Lea (Friend) Crain in Briar, Missouri. He married Carolyn (Guffey) on December 15, 1968, in Faith Tabernacle Church in Poplar Bluff, MO.

As a young boy, David was a child evangelist spreading the gospel to large crowds at the Los Angeles Temple and other locations in Southern California. As an adult he moved to Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where he and his wife, Carolyn started their family. David served on the Poplar Bluff Fire Department and was also a jailor for Poplar Bluff Sheriff’s Department. Several years later, the family relocated to Doniphan, where David and Carolyn became members of First Baptist Church. They directed the youth department for several years and David was also in charge of the kitchen. He enjoyed cooking and even opened his own catfish house at one time. In his younger years, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, and spending time outdoors. David was a dedicated fan and viewer of the Indie 500 and was sure never to miss it. He loved his family dearly.

David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn; four children, Terri (Nathan) Foulks, Greg (Kim) Crain, Jeff (Amy) Crain, and Mike (Misty) Crain; eight grandchildren, Kevin (Alana), Ciara, Tristen (Katlyn), Cheyanne, Jody, Isaac, Gideon, and Elayna; eight great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Tammy Albritton and niece, Tina Johnessee, whom David helped raise; one brother, Kenneth Crain; along with numerous extended family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents and several other extended family members.
