Obituary of Jr. Garrison

Robert Carlton "Bob" Garrison, Jr., 89, lifelong resident of Doniphan, Missouri, died Wednesday, October 9, 2007, at the Ripley County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Garrison was born May 20, 1918, at Doniphan. He worked with his father at Garrison Furniture Store for over 31 years and was also a professional photographer. He attended Southeast Missouri State University and later the University of Missouri at Columbia. Mr. Garrison served in the U. S. Navy from July 10, 1941, to November 20, 1945. He made Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of Kiwanis Club for many years and had served as vice-president and was on the Doniphan R-I School Board. He was a member of the Ripley County Memorial Hospital Board, having served as president and was a member of the Doniphan City Council for several years. Mr. Garrison was a member of the Doniphan Chamber of Commerce as well as the Ripley County Industrial Development Board. He also served on the Board of Directors of Mercantile Bank and the Ripley County Library Board and was a member of the Methodist Church where he sang in the choir for over 30 years. On December 8, 1946, he was married to Margaret Walton at Doniphan. She survives. Also surviving are two daughters Ann (and Carl) Korschgen of Columbia and Janet (and John) Molberg of Tallahassee, Florida. Mr. Garrison was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Carlton Garrison, Sr., and Nannie McClain Garrison; and one sister, Lucille Garrison Smock. A memorial service for Mr. Garrison will be held Friday, October 12, 2007, at the Doniphan United Methodist Church beginning at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend Kent Wilfong officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Ripley County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
