Clint Elkins, 95, of Ponder, Missouri, died November 25, 2007, at the Ripley County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Elkins was born March 11, 1912, in Ponder, Missouri, and was a lifetime resident and farmer of Ripley County.
Mr. Elkins was a longtime member of Oak Ridge Church of God, where he served as Sunday School teacher and treasurer for many years. Mr. Elkins was a charter member of the Ponder Booster Club and the Ripley County Livestock Producers Association. Mr. Elkins was a former Ripley County Extension Council member and in 2002, Mr. Elkins was acknowledged as a Century Farm Owner by the Extension Council.
On February 2, 1938, Mr. Elkins married Muriel Hagan, who preceded him in death September 27, 1963. Also preceding Mr. Elkins in death were his parents, Thomas and Mae Upshaw Elkins, his children, Lyndal Elkins and Kay Elkins Smith, and his brother, Ray Elkins.
Surviving are granddaughter, Melissa Smith Gooden and her husband, Scott, of Russellville, Arkansas, and Susan Smith Hart and her husband, Ken, of Water Valley, Mississippi. Also surviving are 5 great-grandchildren, Lezlie Sweeden, Deanna Sweeden, Joanna Sweeden, Vaughn Hart and Jana Hart.
Visitation for Mr. Elkins will be held from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at Edwards Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, November 29, 2007, at Oak Ridge Church of God. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery with Carolyn Butler officiating.
