Zella Gertrude Barnett Smith, 87, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Saturday, February 2, 2008, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff, Missouri.
Mrs. Smith was born December 27, 1920, at Gideon, Missouri. She was a retired salesperson with the Woolworth Department Stores. Mrs. Smith was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Doniphan.
She was first married to Sam Barnett in 1939. He preceded her in death on May 18, 1954. In 1959 she married French Smith and he passed away on January 16, 1983.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two step-grandchildren, four step-great-grandchildren and her adopted family, Dennis and Genie Smith of Doniphan.
Also preceding her in death are her parents, Willie Walker and Blanche Esry, and one brother, C. D. Walker.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 5, 2008, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Brother Marvin Richards officiating. Burial will be in the Doniphan City Cemetery.
