Bonnie Muriel Gazaway, 84 year old resident of Gatewood, MO died Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Gazaway was born January 8, 1930 to the late Curtis and Clara Miller Johnson. Bonnie was a retired school teacher having taught at Gatewood and Couch and also substitute taught for several years after her retirement. She was also active in starting the Headstart Program. Bonnie loved to sew and made Bridal and Bridesmaids dresses, and she also loved her vegetable garden, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Baseball fan. She was a member of the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church, where she taught an adult class.
On December 23, 1949, in Pocahontas, AR she was married to Richard Gazaway, who preceded her in death on November 21, 2002. Also preceding her in death were her parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
Surviving are one son, Glenn and Jewell Gazaway of Gatewood, MO; one daughter, Lisa and Randy Montgomery of Doniphan, MO; four grandchildren, Shawna Gazaway of Jupiter, FL; Tammy Gazaway of St. Louis, MO; Byron and Brandi Montgomery, both of Doniphan, MO.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gazaway will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at the Liberty Freewill Baptist Church with Bro. James Lee Reed officiating. Visiting will be from 5-8 P.M. Monday, September 1, 2014 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery
