Richard Leon Smith, 59, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Friday, October 30, 2008, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Mr. Smith was born May 17, 1949, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, to John Leon and Burnis (McGuire) Smith. He was a Catholic and attended St. Benedicts Catholic Church in Doniphan. Mr. Smith served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting & fishing.
Survivors include his father, John Leon Smith, two daughters, Siegrid Rachael Fred of Poplar Bluff and Ingrid Rachelle Haynes, of St. Cloud, Florida; two sons, Richard Jonathan Smith and Jimmy Roy Smith, both of Rector, Arkansas; four sisters, Siegrid Maness and Connie Pierce both of Doniphan, Candy Yarber of New London, Iowa, and Christina Payne of Poplar Bluff; and five grandchildren.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his mother, Burnis McGuire Smith, and one sister, Rena Battles.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday November 2, 2008, at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2008, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Ponder Catholic Cemetery.
