Obituary of Kevin Knautz

Kevin James Knautz was born in Dubuque, Iowa, on November 12, 1954, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 18, 2014, after succumbing to liver cancer.
He served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army from March, 1974 to April of 1977 in Fort Polk, Louisiana, Fort Gordon, Virginia, and Fort Ord, California. He retired after working for 30 years at Chrysler Corporation in Belvedere, Illinois, where he was a security guard, fire marshal and robot welder repairman. He was a volunteer fireman for 12 years for the Genoa-Kingston Fire Department in Illinois serving as training officer and after moving to Doniphan, Missouri, in 2007, he also joined the Pine-Bardley Volunteer Fire Department serving as assistant chief. Kevin was a devoted member of the Handy Church of God in Handy, Missouri. He also assisted at many of the Missouri state 4-H horse contests over the years. Kevin graduated from Boylan High School in Rockford, Illinois, and Kiswaukee College in Malta, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Knautz of Doniphan; one son, Joshua Knautz (Susanna) from Sycamore, Illinois; one step-daughter, Ginger Tuttle (Tony) from Steward, Illinois; one brother, Kendall Knautz (Bev) from Machesney Park, Illinois; two sisters, Karen Swanson (Bob) from Roscoe, Illinois, and Kim Wallenberg (Scott) from Machesney Park, Illinois; granddaughters, Morgan Tuttle and Chloe Knautz; special friends, George and Dianne Smith, Devin Nelson and Dave and Sandi Masching; nieces :Laura and Michelle Wallenberg, Jennifer Schober and Vickie Steward (Ralph); numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, LaVern and Rita (Ricke) Knautz.
Visitation will be Saturday evening, Dec. 20, from 5 - 8 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will be Sunday, Dec. 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the Handy Church in Handy, Missouri, with burial to follow in the Handy Cemetery.
