Obituary of Stuart Weatherford
Stuart Weatherford, 84, of Doniphan, MO., died Friday, June 21, 2019 at his residence in Fairdealing, Mo.
Mr. Weatherford was born on August 15, 1934 in Carlinville, IL. to the late Homer and Helen (Stewart) Weatherford.
Mr. Weatherford was of Methodist faith. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. After being honorably discharged, he began a 26 year career as a Sergeant in the Joliet, IL Police Department. Mr. Weatherford was a gun enthusiast and a lifelong member of the NRA. His hobbies included teaching his grandchildren to properly shoot guns, target practicing, fishing and in his younger years golfing. Most days one would find “Stu” eating breakfast at Pasty’s Journeyman Restaurant, where he would visit with his friends, then return home to smoke his pipe and enjoy reading a Tom Clancy mystery or a Louis Lamour western.
On December 20, 1991 he married Tommie Thomas Luye in Doniphan, MO., she survives.
Other survivors are his children; Jeff (Brenda) Weatherford of Katy, TX., Steven Weatherford of Elmhurst, IL., Charles (Judy) Weatherford of Troy, MI., Debra (Jim) Willis of Fairdealing, MO., Patty (Kevin) Gray of Poplar Bluff, MO., David (Shannon) Luye of Ellsinore, MO., and Grandchildren Colin (Rachel) Weatherford, Shannon Weatherford, Sophia Weatherford, April (Terry) Slayton, Jessica (Marty) Czerwonka, Lindsey (Jared) Hancock, Krystal Gray, Sheena Gray, Brittany (Kellen) Gray, Tiffany (Dillion) Gray, Angelina Gray, Trever (Crystal) Luye, Skyler (Samantha) Luye, Remington (Ashley) Luye, Kiley (Colton) McLane, Morgin (Riley) Reed; 31 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Weatherford was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Homer Weatherford.
Visitation will begin Monday June 24, 2019 from 10 am till noon at Edwards Funeral Home, Inc. Funeral services will follow at noon with Pastor Jared Hancock officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery in Fairdealing.
